I really enjoyed the character development in this novel. It was also fascinating to see the relationships develop, and I liked how Giles revealed the characters' pasts little by little and in an organic way.

Interesting and well done and a quick read. One of the better multi POV books I've read.

In What Happened to Cass McBride?, Gail Giles unfolds a mystery that is more than a traditional “whodunit.” The novel opens when Cass McBride falls asleep in her bed, only to wake up buried in a dark box. The story is told by three different characters in alternating chapters, with Cass in the box, trying to find out why she is there and if she might ever escape, a cop – Ben - trying to figure out where Cass has disappeared, and Kyle, the young man who put Cass in the box. Cass and Ben’s chapters are told in real time, while Kyle relays his story in flashback from an interrogation room, after he has been arrested, without giving away whether Cass survived. Cass is one of the popular girls in school, and the reader learns that every thing she does is calculated and planned. She had recently turned down a date with Kyle’s younger brother, who then went home and committed suicide. Kyle blames the loss of his brother on Cass, and intends to prolong her terror underground as payback. High school cliques are not to be blamed, however, as it is revealed how all three young adults have suffered from emotional abuse and the withholding of parental affection.

Very suspenseful and a page turner, yet extremely depressing!

a really great tale told from many perspectives to tell the full story. It's normally hard for me to really like a book when I don't know that anyone in it has any redeeming values, but I did manage to enjoy this one. Perfect read as the weather changes and spooky movies start playing nightly on TV.

My first words after finishing this book were: that was not a light read.

This books covers some really heavy subject matter, but it was a fast read. I didn't want to put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen and how it would all end.

While this book is a suspense/thriller, my feelings after finishing were mostly those of sadness. Most of the time, people don't give much thought to their words, thinking they hold no weight, but this story shows that sometimes just the wrong words can be the final straw for someone.

Even after finishing the story, I feel a bit conflicted about some of the characters because, while the goodness and badness of some people is more black and white than others, there are still shades of gray.

Sometimes books are easy to put down and walk away from and forget, but I have a feeling this is going to be one of those books that I find myself thinking about often.

This was a super fast read, and it was super engaging.

With a limited cast of characters, it was fairly easy to figure out who was who.

This has three different narrators--sometimes competing and sometimes cooperating to tell their story.

I love the suspense of the book. Amazing read for young adults who love a good mystery/suspenseful book
