Had a good time with this one, tons of action and tense moments, also more development from some characters we’ve both seen and haven’t seen. However, the multi-POV can get very confusing at times and doesn’t give us as much time as I would like to connect with the main cast. I also found myself getting flustered at the sheer number of characters the book introduces. Overall, it’s a good sequel that improves on the first and shows the Jedi how big a threat the Nihil really are.

This book was somehow even better than Light of the Jedi, and that book set high expectations for the era. This is a strong contender for my all time favorite Star Wars book. The ensemble cast gives such a great variety of perspectives. The narrative is fast paced and engaging, I was constantly on the edge of my seat desperate to know what was next. The stakes were well set up. I adore all of the major characters and this book makes me want more of them. I love getting to see the Nihil perspective and learning about their goals and ambitions through their view. It makes them more compelling antagonists when we know what is going on in their heads. The writing is incredible and a perfect addition to the High Republic.

AMAZING! waaay better than light if the jedi. cavan scott blew me away with all the character development- i especially loved stellan, bell, elzar, and ty, and i cant wait to see more of them in future books. the plot and action were riveting, i literally couldn't put the book down. the ending is absolutely brutal. this book is fantastic but it WILL hurt you
