This will spoil the entire fucking plot so do NOT read the rest before finishing the book 🗣📢‼️
Immediately you have to question the validity of what the narrator says, which was actually well written for this book. At first I thought that she was having hallucinations, but when she described Reed's grandfather I slowly warmed up to the idea that she could see the dead. It hurt to go in knowing (or at least under the impression) that all the crew dies and trying not to get attached. I very much got attached and subsequently emotionally destroyed.  When Kane was scared to give her the screwdriver, I think that was my breaking point. This also implied that he knew he was talking to a hallucination of Nysus and chose to speak to him anyways. I love scifi horror and confined horror and this was so fun. My favorite characters were unfortunately Voller and later Reed before the murder incident. Idk what that says about me but I don't want to think about it too much,,,, I also loved Nysus but we didn't get to see too much of him. I always think I want a book where main characters die but then when it happens I regret wishing for it. I've actually been waiting for a book that uses the out of hearing range sound-induced hallucinations. I learned about it a while ago and thought it was pretty useful to know.

I didn't like the audiobook as much, but still very good. Just the right amount of spooky and I enjoyed the ending.

Decently spooky book with an interesting twist and consistent throughout. I liked that this didn’t have the usual drop off in believability 3/4 through that so many horror novels have. The plot was steady and holds up. I found Claire’s character to be very irritating, however, and the “I’m broken and dangerous” schtick to be tiresome. Ultimately satisfied with this read, though.

I was so hyped to read this. Inhaled it in two days and was left coughing.

Claire is painfully NOT genre savvy and has few redeeming qualities that make up for the secondhand embarrassment of her getting duped by every clue that says, "Hey, you have something on your shirt." She's totally believable! I know people like her! But I don't think I'd read a book about them.

Pacing was a bit weird, because there's the first half of the book where Things Happened, and then the second half where the Things Happen Again except with Answers (that some keen readers may have worked out already). And with gratuitous gore, of course, which I'm neutral on.

It's a decent romp, and maybe if you don't read much horror you'll be more surprised by the twists. But I feel like my view of everything was obscured by the narrator.

The idea of this book was good - sort of a Titanic meets Event Horizon thing where the main characters find a ghost ship that messes with their perceptions - but the execution did not work for me. The MC's specific non ghost ship related mental health problems were all over the place, but not in a way that was interesting or compelling. The dual timeline thing that only happens for like half the book did not work. The pacing was so slow until about the 70% mark. Most of the actually interesting things happen off screen. The thing that is causing the problem is immediately obvious but no one figures it out. The characters are very vague stereotypes and the romance is deeply stupid. For some reason the same things that were just shown are reiterated over and over like you might not notice (like the character will see a gold faucet and be like "wow! Ostentatious displays of wealth bad!" every single time). I did like the way they solved the problem at the end though.

I didn't like the characters and by that I mean I didn't care about what happen(ed) to them. The atmosphere wasn't there either, and I'm convinced the romantic subplot wasn't necessary at all.

Terrifying, suspenseful and full of surprises. I loved this because it not only had everything it promised, but it also gave me more! I was expecting a salvage crew and a scary mission, but this went way beyond expectations. Highly recommend if you have a hard time always knowing endings, and anticipating the next plot line.
