Lehane marcandose un Lehane. Si te gusta su Mystic River y buscas algo similar, esto es 100% ese rollo: fuerte contexto socio cultural historico con crimen por resolver de una manera no habitual.

This is a captivating novel about the length's a mother will go to protect her daughter.  It is the summer of 1974 in Boston, there is a heatwave taking over the city and Mary Pat's teenage daughter (Jules) goes out one night with friends and doesn't come home. As Jules remains missing for longer, Mary Pat starts to take matters into her own hands to uncover the truth but also catches the attention of a mob boss.  The audiobook is really well done and this story is a twist of revenue, family love, hate and power.  I enjoyed listening to this novel, I'm not sure how "believable" the plot was but overall it's a good story.

this is such a baffling book. the way it tackles race is very odd…. mary pat is interesting but the ending somehow felt inconclusive? besides mary pat, i feel like majority of the characters lacked the depth and complexity that mystic river and a drink before the war had. there was nuance but it felt one sided. i can’t even fully articulate how i feel about this book. just read the drop instead
