I think this is now my absolute fave book in this series especially as we got some of the back story in Stolen
which is Maddock and Rory's story and already the emotions Max had been going through. Lia is back and with a child in tow and yeah I admit with know the pain Max was in after their break up I was not fussed on her but also knowing that Rory made a mistake between the brothers that there is more than meets the eye and we need answers! This definitely had to be a slow burn as these two have lots to work through and plenty of emotions to go through, thankfully the McRae family don't give up and of course this isn't just about Max and Lia, but we have some other twists including about Lia's father. Life, love and family are messy and the fact that not everything is all tied up with a nice bow at the end was great as life doesn't always end up that way.

I'll start by saying I didn't like Lia. This comes as no surprise since me and all book heroines have this issue. BUT I actually grew to like her! Which for me was quite surprising tbh.

I wasn't much a fan of her pure as driven snow innocence and super sheltered personality. Once the book got rolling so did my eyes, let me tell you.

The last man standing... That's what Max is. The last unmarried McRae in this generation.
And it so screams "History repeats" from all roofs. Family history!

Max is a lot like his dad Ally. Both were the "last man standing" in their generation. Both fell in love with their soulmates when they were young. Both have/had secret babies. And both are very sensitive and think of themselves as losers 😔
And both have an identical twin 😉

Lia grew up in a very protective life with a possessive and protective dad. Private tutors, moving every few months, no friends... And still, she got pregnant from the one time she had sekks with the only guy she met 2 years ago.
But what SHE doesn't know is, that she had sekks with a different guy a few days after the first one.
It's the reason why Max hated Maddox because it was him. He has sekks with his ex-girlfriend. He promised he didn't know it but Max didn't believe him.
When Lia appears again it gets very tricky. Not only didn't she know that Max has a twin, she also screamed at Max that he is a shitty dad. But he never knew about her pregnancy. Both hate each other because they think the other one is lying 🙈
But the biggest problem is, who is the father? You can't do a paternity test when the two candidates are twins... Something Max drives crazy 😔 He so wants to be Evie's dad.
The moment Max sees her for the first time is as emotional as it was when his dad saw his daughter for the first time 🥹🥹🥹 And she loves him too.

It happens so much in this book. It's again full of action 😱 and so emotional 🩷
The end, the night before the wedding, (sorry, but we all know romance books have a HEA), is so funny 🤣 Yes, the McRaes and their traditions 🙈
I'll miss the McRae's, but at least there is one more book and I'm pretty sure it will include A LOT of McRae's 😁

I definitely just didn't feel connected to this book. Probably because I hadn't read all the other books that came previous to this one. Soooo, you might want to read the previous ones rather than just starting with this one.
