So many amazing quotes and a very thought-provoking book.

“Consider that with tolerance and patience, we godly demons may breed a noble world in a few hundred generations or so. Maybe all of us who do not have the good fortune to meet, or meet again, in this world, will meet at a barbecue.”

This book is a great insight into the life and mind of Zora Neale Hurston. Her voice is so clear, the book feels like a conversation with a good friend. Her reflections on her life, love, and race transcend time. This is a book that I see myself picking up again and again at different points in my life. Highly recommend.

This sounded a lot like there eyes were watching god, I saw a lot of similarities and it makes me wonder if Janie was really Zora. I gave it three stars while I gave Thier Eyes Were Watching God five because I felt like this book was just a whole bunch of stories thrown together and def not in chronological order, so it was a bit confusing at times to determine exactly how old Zora was because she was so vague and probably mentioned her age three times in the whole novel. I read this for my Zurston and Wright class and I look forward to rereading TEWWG again.

Gorgeous. Zora Neale Hurston's autobiography is incomparable. She approaches life with such wisdom and such boldness; I am saddened that I will never get to meet her in real life - I feel that we'd be such good friends.
