Head On is an excellent follow-up to Lock In - a new story with the same MCs that continues to explore how Hadens move through this version of the country as their status becomes more uncertain. Scalzi’s use of the “corruption in sports” angle is accessible for nearly any reader and adds an interesting dimension to the richness of Haden life…and the parallels to real-life marginalization of groups in our society.
I also want my own Agent Vann as a partner.

I really enjoyed this one and I was super engaged like I was with the last one, although like the last one the solution to the mystery got very convoluted. Still it was entertaining to listen to; Wil Wheaton does a pretty good job of differentiating characters. Overall I think if you enjoyed the previous one, you’ll like this one. Scalzi tries to set this one up so you don’t have to have read the previous one but I think you kind of have to read it first.
Graphic: Suicide and Murder
It gets pretty detailed and graphic when characters are trying to figure out if a victim died by suicide or was murdered
