i felt that this book was a mutually transformative experience for the reader and the author. deeply relatable in all of it's girlie shame and the sort of detached yet reflective way that ernaux carries all of it. there's a sense of urgency in the telling that made this a singularly gripping reading experience.
"Among my papers I found a sort of note of intent: Explore the gulf between the stupefying reality of things that happen, at the moment they happen, and, years later, the strange unreality in which the things that happened are enveloped."

It is the absence of meaning in what one lives, at the moment one lives it, which multiplies the possibilities of writing. [...] the gulf between the stupefying reality of things that happen, at the moment they happen, and, years later, the strange unreality in which the things that happened are enveloped.

с одной стороны я наверное совсем не могу ее понять, с другой фактически мы так во многом сходимся это удивительно знать такие тайные уголочки души какой-то совершенно рандомной женщины
