This wasn't the book that I thought I was getting into, but I really enjoyed the fantastic artwork and the story was good regardless. Wasn't a big fan of the ending.

This graphic novel (as made quite evident by the title) is about the author's journey to come to terms with his brother's epilepsy. The story chronicles their lives from childhood to adulthood and all of the many treatments and miracle solutions that their parents tried over the years including joining hippie communes, hypnotism, acupuncture, therapy, and dieting. It was very interesting, and the creator included dream sketches and drafts of earlier drawn comics intermixed with the chronological story line.
I really did like this book, though I felt it was a bit disorganized at times. The ending fell a little flat for me, but I think it brings light to the fact that not all stories end with inspirational quick-fixes.

I'm just gonna say, it's super ironic that a book about epilepsy is so busy. I couldn't get more than a few pages into this, because it gave me such a migraine and made me so dizzy.

1.5 estrellas pinshi goodreads debería tener medias estrellas

Very good.
The story is honest and heartbreaking; however, the art won me over. It was dream-like and gave intense descriptions that could not be put in the words.

It's not there is nothing good here. It's a memoir of a life, the life of a family, a struggle with a brother's illness. But it's also oppressive and tedious and boring. The art has some interesting bits to it. But it's also ugly and abstract. I appreciate that this book exists. And I was reminded of how much people go through to try to change their reality. But this one definitely wasn't for me.
