Great story and loved getting to hear Matthew narrate his own book, but it was crushing to listen to knowing how his story ends. He repeatedly says “I shouldn’t be alive”/“I can’t believe I’m alive” and it was a gut punch each time.

His story deserves to be shared, even though he is no longer here to share it himself. He told it beautifully and without frills. Gave me chills to hear his voice, I listen to all my audiobooks in at least 1.5x speed which worked well here. We miss you Matty, I hope you’re having a laugh up there now 🤍

Reading this after Matthew Perry has passed is very eerie.

I’m not a Friends Fangirl. But I did enjoy this memoir.

I found myself having second hand embarrassment so often. His self depreciation sense of humor is funny, ironic and sad. He’s so self aware of his issues thanks to all of his stints in rehab and therapy. It makes for a very blatantly honest memoir.

A must read for anyone who loves an addict and /or is one themselves. I devoured this book. It is heartbreaking and beautiful and funny and deeply unsettling.

Reading this in light of Matthew's death was absolutely heartbreaking. Him and Friends was a large part of my media growing up and I am so thankful to be able to have gotten this insight into his life, struggles, and ultimate path to a life that he was happy and fulfilled with. A life that was much much too short. I really enjoyed hearing him narrate this himself - his voice and personality really shine amongst the humor and heart of this memoir.
