I enjoyed this book. It's another entry into the Cat in the Stacks mystery. I really like this series and can't wait to continue.

This mystery was about the death of Vera Cassity and all f the people that had a motive to kill her. Of course Charlie was summoned to help figure out the mystery. We, as readers follow along with Charlie and his pet cat Diesel as they wade through all of the different suspects. The author made sure that each of the suspects had a good motive to keep you guessing until the very end.

Solid mystery, though I figured out the culprit early on. It was nice to catch up with these characters. Looking forward to the next book.

One of the better ones of the series so far. Even if I am still bitter that the cat doesn't solve mysteries.

It might have gotten more except that too much was familiar. I had to check a number of times whether I'd already read it, because some characters were so stereotypical.

It was a nice change to have an older, male protagonist though. And Diesel, the huge Maine Coon, too.

Easy read. Interesting characters and story line. The series is enjoyable and the plots are good enough to keep you guessing. Not great fiction, but enjoyable nonetheless. Still think this is a man writing these, though. And what's with calling Charlie Harris, the librarian, old when he's only 52?

I do, however, have a rant but it's directed at the artist. Couldn't the artist at least google a picture of a Maine Coon cat? They are not obese, short-haired tabby cats! And this one is brown when it's been stated on a couple of occasions that Charlie's cat is gray. And where are the ear tufts? Not hair around the ears like depicted, but long tufts to protect the cat's ears from the New England snows. Where are the tufts on the feet? My girl has big feet with 3/4 to 1 inch tufts of hair that stick out all around when she walks (or plods). Maine Coons have medium to long hair - again for protection in the winter. Where is the ruff? Rolls of fat do not equal a ruff - think Queen Elizabeth I and her collars, but make it long fur - that's a Maine Coon ruff. And that ridiculous tail on the picture! Maine Coons have long, long tails that wrap all the way around them when they are curled up to sleep. Again genetics have made it so that they are protected in the harsh winter weather. You would think, wouldn't you, that the artist could do a little bit of research before putting ink to paper.
