I don't know why it took me forever to finish this, trust me never again! I love a good fantasy romance!
Fae. Fated Mates. Betrayal. Lost. Smut.
I cannot even put words together as I just finished this book! I was broken, then fixed back together when I got to the end

As soon as I read the synopsis I was intrigued by the author note..I love a bit of fantasy but this would be my first journey into romantic fantasy. Romance just isnt my thing but with that synopsis I just had to give it a go.. and I’m so glad I did.
Something I really enjoyed was the writing style.. it’s emotive. For me with fantasy it’s about setting that scene.. getting the pace just right.. I need to be able to really immerse myself in the authors world and the fast placed plot added to strong emotional scenes really helped me settle into the story.
One of the topics covered that I really liked exploring was the idea of mates, as in there is only one person out there truly for you, it’s not like you can’t care about anyone else but when you find that one.. the power it can produce..
The explicit content within the tale actually helps you understand the characters.. at times powerless to their own actions.. isnt that effect lust/love has on us?
Plot wise the flow was fast but written well and I loved how each character developed. It was almost effortless to read..to find characters you liked, flaws you hated.. traits that made you angry..again it’s all about the emotion..the connection formed with the reader.
The twists and turns really helped give this tale a kick..you can feel the build up coming.. the energy is palpable.
I’m very glad to know there’s the series continues. It’s a great start and I’m looing forward to seeing the character development moving forward. Everything is there is to hook me in so will I be reading more? Definitely.
Overall a lot of promise which I’m looking forward to seeing develop further.

If this is how the series starts, I can't wait to see where it goes. Palmer has done an excellent job of bringing a whole new world to life, with amazing characters, and an addicting story that unfolds before your eyes. If you haven't found characters to love and love to hate by the end of the book, then we definitely didn't read the same book. This book took me on such a ride emotionally, and I just couldn't put it down. If I had to sum up this book in one word, it would be addicting. I can't wait to explore more of this world with my new favorite characters!
4.5⭐️ This debut novel really surprised me in the best way!! I am obsessed with every single one of these characters! You will either love them or love to hate them. The plot was a little predictable, but the plot twist at the end had me
“I want you until my dying breaths….We were destined for each other, written in the stars before we were even born. You were handpicked for me by the gods…”

Okay.. I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did.
From the beginning, I was able to get transported into the story. It felt predictable and familiar to other fantasy stories, however, the further the plot thickened, I became engulfed by the tale. It morphed into the dark fantasy I knew it could be. It had me rooting for my favorite characters and cursing those I wanted to punch through the page.
I was initially going to rate it 4.25-4.5 stars, but the ending easily slid this to 5 stars and had me reaching to start book two.
I am eager to see where this series goes and what unique circumstances we will find the MC's in next.
If you're looking for a dark fantasy with magical fae, a stubborn yet strong fmc, spice, and littered with lies and deception, please consider giving this book a chance.

The Horde which is led by their overlord Lachlan attacked Helia years ago because of unrequited love when the love of his life, Queen Oriana, mated King Alaric instead of Lachlan. He ended up killing Oriana, leaving Alric alive and leaving Eva as the heir. This story follows Eva who is navigating life as heir to the throne, romance and talk about The Horde coming back.
I really liked the idea and concept behind this book, and I love ACOTAR and I’m always happy to read a book that reminds me of the series. The world and its history sounded so interesting and the way the book started, the descriptions were really good and well thought out. There’s political intrigue as well, which I know many love and of course secrets and betrayals.
That being said, it had similarities to ACOTAR, but the way the similarities are put into this book, did not flow very well with THIS book. It’s like some scenes from ACOTAR were shoved into this book randomly that just made this book a bit disjointed for me. Some scenes that happened I did not understand why they happened or what the point of it was. I struggled a bit with the flow of the story. The similarities with characters and the found family that were an awful lot like the Inner Circle made it almost too similar and not really it’s own story.
Another thing I had a hard time with was the characters. I didn’t really like any of the characters, or just didn’t connect with any of them. Eva was definitely my least favorite. Not a likable character in my opinion. Very spoiled, contradictory and never grew as the story progressed. I could go on and on about her, but I won’t, it would be too long

DNF I could not get past inconsistent character development. Eventually I gave up.
