This book was recommended to me by MANY people. Itās was such a slog to finish. Over 1,000 pages and I wouldāve quit if I hadnāt needed it for many of my reading challenges. Iāll start with the positive:
The overall story was fairly interesting. The sexy parts were indeed spicy. Thatās about it.Ā
Now for the stuff I did NOT like:
Ā Let me preface this to say that I donāt like fantasy that much. Especially the ones who refer to characters in full name, the ones that have names that are difficult to pronounce, the ones that have exotic names for every group of people, location, position, etc
The main character is basically a child who is taught in the erotic arts. HUGE WTF! Sheās a sex slave. Her first āmasterā just enjoys inflicting pain- which part of her ācurseā makes it pleasurable to her. I felt like it wasnāt BDSM, but just abuse. Maybe there was a time in my life where Iād find this read enjoyable, but this isnāt it.Ā
I did give it 2 stars because the author did create and intricate cast of characters and story, but honestly, I wouldāve DNF at any other time.Ā

Its a long winding tale of political intrigue and adventure. Very enjoyable read if you enjoy epic tales. Its well worth the long read, the characters are enjoyable and the journey they go on keeps you engaged and guessing whats going to happen next as you read.Ā
It does have many titles, courtly names and relationship links which I struggled to keep straight as I read but this doesnt detract too much from the story.Ā
I would and have recommended this to people that enjoy the part of the fantasy genre that is slightly less YA. It does have bdsm sex scenes although I think they are more tame than some of the reviews suggest.Ā
