As much as I love Verne, you can't write that many novels without a few clunkers. This is one.

Unlikeable characters, fairly uninteresting setting, and the stakes are not very high. Probably for completionists only.

I discovered this novel quite late.
The subject is comical and captivating. The Turkish Kéraban does not agree to pay a tax to cross the Bosphorus, so, stubborn as a mule, to pay a modest sum, he decides to go around the Black Sea by other ways.
Of course, there will be plenty of obstacles in their way.
This novel is entertaining.
