This book made me extremely uncomfortable. The characters don't understand consent and the main character acts like a child. This is even worse because the love interest, who was 18 when she was 13, knew her as a child and still calls her 'Little one', the nickname he called her when she was 6.
Moderate: Sexual assault
Minor: Pedophilia

I love me a good quirky romance. I need a fast paced kindle unlimited book between my fantasy reads, and this has been on my recommended page for so long…It was not it. There are so many problematic things with the book. The main character Olive is fat phobic, and the entire story could gave gone through another round of editing/ revisions. Not to mention, the first COUPLE chapters of the book start up with Okie as a CHILD, and Jason as a TEENAGER. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind age gaps, but the attention Jason was giving to her as a seven year old was just plain creepy. In general, the constant pet names from Jason just felt so icky and gross. It is low key grooming. The only redeeming person in this book was Lucy. Lucy was funny, and I might just read To Hate Adam Connor because she is the main character. I would not recommend this book to anyone, it was a completely waste of my time. I thought it would be a quick read, but it is over 400 pages….plus the dubious consent? This book was doomed.
Jason is pretty much grooming Olive since she was a child. And the whole marriage plot point doesn’t come up until 50% way through. Olive starts of at 7 years old, and Jason flirting with her when she was younger is just not appropriate. I didn’t mind it as Olive is older, but constantly mentioning Olive’s crush on him and Jason’s attention on her when she was younger creeped me the fuck out. The marriage plot was weak, but I am interested in Lucy’s book since she was the only character I liked. What happened to Jameson? I thought Lucy was going to end up with him?
