Violet Sorrengail was supposed to be a scribe, spending her life studying books and history, but when her commanding general mother orders her to become a dragon rider, she is sent to the brutal war college where they train. I loved Violet so much, especially in how she represented chronic illness. And Xadan!!! Something tells me that when Fourth Wing releases in May TikTok may have a new favorite book boyfriend. I couldn't get enough of this story, and I can't wait for the sequel!

Thank you Netgalley for providing a digital ARC.

This blockbuster romantic fantasy is set at a brutal battle academy, where you either earn a dragon or you die. An unlikely, bookish, chronically ill heroine must defy the expectations not only of her enemies but of her allies to succeed—speaking of enemies, there’s a tall, dark, and brooding one with a tragic past out to kill her. The DRAGONS, the seriously HEART RACING action scenes, and the STEAMY slow burn romance are all winning factors, but I will say the writing is very new adult, all the characters are super hot, and sometimes the romantic writing is just really…cheesy. They both admire each other’s characters but frequently cite their physical attraction over an emotional one. All this makes for a romantasy that’s as easy to read as it is exciting!
