I am not the type of person that enjoys fantasy but I loved this book. I was hooked from the start and fell in love with Xaden. The characters are so lovable and hateable. Just wow. Already preordered.

This is just an incredibly fun and nostalgic read. Plus dragons! Honestly I adored this book, it felt very nostalgic to me when I read it. It reminds me of all of those dystopian books I loved to read as a teen like [book:The Hunger Games|2767052] ! The inclusion of disability rep in fantasy was so great to read, I love how Violence used it to her advantage and worked with it.
Every book should have dragons. Seriously what is it about dragons that takes us right back to our childhood!
Also for romance lovers, the romance straight ROMANCED. It was exquisite to read. Plus they destroy a room during sex...so like yes it's excellent.
Also Tairn and his little petty comments gave me life I love him so much.
The twist was A TWIST! I thought I knew what was going to happen but I was so wrong.
THE ENDING KILLED ME! If I see the author it is on sight and I'm throwing hands.
I HIGHLY recommend this book,it's fun, fantasy, romance, and just a great time.

This one gripped me about 30% in. It was a lot of fun and very approachable. The world building was a little hollow but the plot was very well woven. It’s diverse, but sometimes the diversity feels a little forced. One side character is deaf and the main character signs with her. However, the deaf character is part of a group that values keeping a stoic face and she isn’t able to be very expressive. Most sign languages use facial cues very heavily so it felt a little like it was just thrown in there with little thought. It could have been an interesting thing to explore briefly, but was overlooked.

So world-related plot holes aside, it’s well worth the read. And it’s very much my jam. (The sexual scenes were probably the best written smut I’ve read in a long time. Well done.)

The ending was maybe the only redeemable things. This book is famous for the main male character’s sex appeal and that wasn’t enough to for me. I found the book fine with decent world building. However, the plot is EXTREMELY predictable and filled with stereotypical tropes. Will I read the sequel? Maybe, the ending twist was decent but the characters will have to get less annoying for me to enjoy it.

SpoilerThe last 1/3 of the book is Violet being horny and repeating herself. I didn’t like her whiny attitude to begin with but these outages me over the edge. Girl, stop.
