I also do not understand all the hype with this book. I enjoyed it, but there are far more well written and entertaining books to read. I think it has something to do with the fact that Miss Steele is so submissive to him. I did enjoy the second book a bit better. I must say that in all honesty, I would rate Gone With the Wind's characters, Scarlett & Rhett, as having more chemistry than that of Christian and Anastasia.

Also, I found some parts of the story just plain annoying! For instance, Anastasia's "inner goddess". Yuck!
I'll take the classics, with fantastic characters and good writing, thank you very much!

I had extremely low expectations going into this book and while it was nowhere close to being a great book, I did end up enjoying it a little. If I could, I'd probably give it 2.5 stars - somewhere between "it was OK" and "I liked it". The writing was really poor at most parts but it was a page-turner so I have to give the author some credit there. The ending left a lot to be desired (no pun intended) so.... on to the second book.

So it's not the best written book and at times the characters and dialogue or so simple-minded and coy that it's incredulous. However, I read it because I like to read what everyone else is reading and know what all the hype is about. So the hype is exaggerated for the literary quality but it's a quick read and now I know what "laters baby" is all about. Onto something more inspiring...

DON'T JUDGE ME! I liked it. The writing was crap & the inner goddess/subconscious was so annoying. But, I liked the story, for the most part. (Guilty admission: I liked it enough to buy the trilogy so I wouldn't have to wait for 2 & 3 at the library. It's a good thing I did because the ending.....whoa. I even paced myself until the books came in the mail from amazon so I wouldn't be left hanging. :P)

What can I say...I was curious. Not just to see if the sex scenes were as adventurous as people say but if the writing is as bad as many of my fellow readers had hinted. Mostly in the second regard, I was not disappointed. I almost couldn't finish the book because I would throw my phone every time one of the character's would quirk or hitch. Gah

I love 50 Shades trilogy. I know a lot of people bashed it as trash but its impossible to put down. To me that makes it a great book.
