There were quite a few grammar errors but I’m not looking for a literary masterpiece and this is one of my favourite mafia romances I have read.
I will be continuing the series.

Interesting book.. I’ve never read any Mafia books but this one was decent for sure. I actually like the characters a lot and def want to know what happens next with Jaxon and Natalie.

this book was so long BUT however I FUCKIN LOVED it
I loved that the book was not just the romance "the romance itself was so good though EXCEPT there were certain nickname that I HATE but I just pretend it does not exists just BECAUSE YEAH I CAN", I kinda expect this plot twist BUT I REALLY LOVED IT THOUGH
sigh...... I just love mafia romance so much "sigh dreamily"...

“She was struggling with being a new mom, and I was zero help. I slept around, and I was never there when she needed me.”

I’m not connecting with the characters at all. It seems like he is a shitty dad and she is a boring girl that is somehow ‘different’.
 Yeah no  🤷‍♀️

Tough getting through. Skimmed and skipped a lot cause of the repetitive scenes. Everything happens within a week! Way too much going on. Cliff hanger and three more books to follow. Jaxon- mafia head and hotel owner/father but just doesn’t seem like a badass for such a position. Natalie- nurse who happens to visit his hotel and saves his daughter who just lets everyone walk all over her.

This book had such potential with its premise. It’s been quite a while since I’ve read a mafia romance and I was so excited about this book! However, it just missed the mark for me. It had all of the elements a good mafia story needs: sexy billionaire/Don MMC, “innocent” but resilient FMC, some kidnapping, some spice, a hidden plot that the reader has to try to figure out who it is, he falls first, slow burn, spice that spiced when on page, and a plot twist.

But…I found that the MMC for all of his good points as a mafia Don, was just too “sweet and accommodating” which made it not believable. Obviously it’s a fictional romance so there is going to be some of that, but as the story progressed it made me disinterested. The FMC had badass moments, but then there were times that she gave too much of the innocent naivety that again made me disinterested. Also, for the things that happen and how close the two MCs get, it all happened over the span of one week. Like, you think some closed off Don is going to give up his whole life story about his secrets and businesses after one week? Yeah, not believable to me. These are all just my opinions! (What do I know! lol)

I want people to read this book! I listened to it and read along on my Kindle. The narrators did a good job. Will I continue with the series? I don’t know. I want to know what happens, but I’m not dying to know what happens. So we’ll see.

I do think the book is worth the read to see if it is for you!

the author’s decision to not use contractions felt so weird to me and didn’t fit with the way the i think the characters would actually speak and think. the way they were written made them all feel very rigid and formal which i gather was not how they were supposed to come off. i also really didn’t like some of the things jackson thought and said about women, especially miss natalie who he is actually supposed to like and respect. i kept waiting for this book to get better as it is so highly rated so i was pretty disappointed that it didn’t even start to move in the right direction for me. probably going to avoid this author in the future
