The media and the family of the royal bastard gang up to make her life hell, but she gets through it. Once a potential love interest is killed, who is the killer, and who's trying to frame her?
This book was a good mix of dark/emotional and funny. I wish there were more of the fun parts and less of the dark and emotional parts. The book's first half felt more like a contemporary romance, but the second half was more of a thriller. I would have preferred less romance.
Overall a pretty good book that covered some hard topics. I really appreciated the compassion and understanding of the author for the mother who struggled with schizophrenia. I also liked that she made sure to have a part in there that corrected the assumptions of some of the general public that people with schizophrenia are violent, when in fact they're more likely to be the victim than the perpetrator of violence.

This book was a random grab off the “new” section at the library after I read the bio I knew I’d love it! However! I wish on the book itself there was some sort of content warning. This book very heavily talks about rape and sexual assault and it really threw me off, I wish I would have checked the warnings on story graph. But if I had maybe I wouldn’t have picked it up, and aside from the sensitive topics I enjoyed the book! I made so many predictions along the way and got some right! But also some really wrong because all the twists keep you on your toes! This is a rather new release and I didn’t see much hype about it anywhere (but maybe I’m blind) which is a shame because I really enjoyed reading it!
I’m not gonna say much here… other then kit and Evan are my OTP. I say that a lot but truly I love those two I was rooting for them for soooooooooo long and I’m so happy they end up together. Now I know there are rumored sequels especially because of how it ended, and if kit and Evan break up I’m not finishing the books (I’m kidding I’m too invested I’ll just cry)
10/10 would recommend

I think I've been swept up in Royal Fever since the coronation last weekend, so much so that this is my second royal book in a week!

Evan is the illegitimate child of King Alexander. The world doesn't know about her but she's turning 18 in 25 days and is hoping to return to life with her Mum. However, things don't always go the way you think. Evan ends up at Windsor castle, an American amongst all the pomp of the royal family. Unfortunately Evan gets tied up in scandals, gossip, murder and betrayal.

I really enjoyed this - I wasn't a fan of Evan but she does grow on you and what she went through was horrific. It's quite far fetched but it did throw me into life at Windsor Castle and I felt like I was there. I didn't know this was a series and I'll be looking out for book 2.

Look out for trigger warnings!

Royal Blood was a pleasant surprise hit. I went in expecting royalty, murder and a splash of chaos and that was exactly what I got (with slightly more chaos).

The twists and turns of the plot kept me genuinely guessing the outcome and the character growth was honest and well thought out. I really appreciated the sort of “found family” Evan found herself in (even if they technically were related to her).

Carter writes about some delicate topics with sensitivity but also with a bluntness that was truly welcomed. This book gets emotional in places but doesn’t get bogged down with it nor do the character’s emotions feel overshadowed by anything else.

It is an onion of a book with layers of romance, thriller, mystery, and family drama. It’s about Evan as she learns to accept herself and how to open up and welcome in those who could be good friends if she let them.

I’m looking forward to future installments in the series.
