This book started with the funniest chapter of any book I have ever read. The main character, Gilda, is instantly loveable. Which made the rest of this book detailing her depression and anxiety so much more painful to read. This book was so so lovely but at times repetitive and darker than I was expecting so just be aware of that. Otherwise a wonderfully crafted story :)

This was unlike any book I have ever read. It was so raw and real, scarily so. Anxiety and depression can be so debilitating and this is really shown through Gilda’s character. I need to read the rest of Emily’s books asap.

Impressively accurately like spending a load of time inside the head of someone who is spiralling...but that's not necessarily my idea of a great read? Too real to be funny

If you're into books that have heavy plot, this book is not for you.
Technically speaking, nothing happens in this book, but the character's narrative is what makes it interesting. She has a very out of body, lack of self acknowledgement way of thinking that I can relate to.
The fact that she's an atheistic lesbian who accidentally gets a job in a Catholic Church is what makes this book memorable. I find most, if not all, religions a little odd and sometimes even creepy myself, so having a character who could relate was fun to read.

I think the ending helped to tie up the loose ends very well
i really loved Gilda as a character although her name took some time to grow on me, I found myself relating to her more and more the closer to the end I got.

Pretty gutted for a good amount of this book. But also laughed wholeheartedly and giggled often. Gilda resonated with me in a way that made me feel like I needed to make some changes in my own life. Her thought processes were nihilistic but at the same time reasonable and funny but always with that hint of dark. And then you feel how good of a person she is and how big her heart is and it's the most heartwarming story ever.
