Very informative book. I was shocked to learn about who has benefited from reparations paid to victims: some of these people would literally sell their own grannies for cash.

All due respect to Finkelstein (and much is due in light of his continued outspokenness against Zionism, the settler colonialist project of Israel, and the genocide of the Palestinian people), this was a bit of a disappointing read. Not nearly enough time spent in the first part of the text, with analysis of modern Holocaust narratives as propaganda and ideological weaponry. Entirely too much time spent on the minutiae of ADL extortion of Swiss Banks and the like. Important points worthy of digging into (e.g. what specific "pet projects" ADL et al. used said monies for) are simply glossed over in favor of grumbling diatribes. There is good information worth highlighting here, but overall I expected more.

It's very interesting, illuminating stuff and everything presented is clearly well documented. It can be annoying and boring at times - the author clearly despises certain persons mentioned and definitely does not hold back on ranting about them for what feels like ages. But regardless it felt like a minor sore point in an overall very informative publication.

A smart and compelling analysis of the holocaust as an ideology instead of an historical event. Finkelstein argues (and proves) that the holocaust serves to legitimize Israel’s criminal existence and rake in money for what he refers to as elite Jewry, while completely abandoning holocaust survivors. A completely new perspective on something we’re taught not to question or scrutinize.
