it's nice-- but I was imagining something more imaginative for a biography of Dr. Seuss...

A great picture story biography about Dr. Seuss. I read it to my 5th grade class every year. The book helps you understand why Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel created the types of stories and characters that he did. One of my favorite aspects of the book is that each two-page spread has an illustration by Dr Seuss from one of his books that matches what the story is telling us about him.

Dr. Seuss is the author of my favorite book, Oh, The Places You'll Go! I've wanted to learn more about him for sometime now. Maybe it's his German ancestry (I'm not German but have an affinity for the country and its people) or his silliness or his East Coast upbringing, but I'm intrigued by him. This book gave delightful, brief insight into his life. I'm probably going to buy it and every book of his someday.

An enjoyable look at the suburban Springfield childhood of Dr Seuss and the many influences that shaped him and his books. Lovely illustrations (including from Seuss's own collection), a heartwarming story and enough contextual biographical information to get a good sense of the man.

Loved this book! Is a terrific story of a boy who didn't fit in but then made a name for himself doing what he loved to do despite others' expectations.
