I picked this up after reading the Golden Age also with Cyril Pedrosa. The connection of the fear of loosing a child who is 'marked for death' drew me as I have friends in similar circumstances. I found the plot at time a bit hard to follow, though the core emotion of the story is touching. There is a lot of twisting adventures which made my sometimes not sure where I'd jumped around too.
Moderate: Child death and Chronic illness
These issues are dealt with a sympathetic touch, but are the core of the novel.
