Copy sent for review. Poetry for wartime that is mostly about the moments when the rockets are not blaring and you just want to save the cat. The Putin venom sprinkled throughout makes sense, the man is bombing them, but sometimes it distracts from the heart of the matter, the pieces like "War, Day 100" and the title one that get right at the death and carelessness at the heart of the invasion.

The book is incredibly raw and context-specific. At times the translations feel slightly clunky to this reader in its free verse, however this is less a matter of literary skill and more one of personal taste. Overall the petty is quite good, and when the knowledge is added of its origin in the brutal conflict of Ukraine the meaning of the poems becomes elevated. Would definitely recommend to another reader and enjoyer of poetry.
