There was more angst to Lainey and Emmett's story than I usually expect when picking up a book by R.S. Grey, but it was still beautifully written and compulsively readable. Their lives had been planned out for them basically since birth, and they both struggled to break out of the roles their families had created for them to find love and acceptance for who they were, as well as to make their own choices about how to live their lives. While their path to happiness was far from straightforward, I couldn't help but empathize with both Emmett and Lainey and root for them the whole way.

Overall, I loved "Forbidden French" and highly recommend it for all contemporary romance fans. I look forward to whatever R.S. Grey writes next.
