Possibly my fave of the 3. Although my love for this one only increased my love for the first 2. Whilst I found some parts of the overall trilogy dragged and not written in my fave outfits style as I have now finished and look back on the journey it is clear how much it has impacted me. Absolutely amazing 10/10

A great end to LOTR.

I'm struggling to put into words now I feel about this novel. It's all fantastic, tense action, solid world building etc.

It does unfortunately start to drag a little bit at the end with the return to the shire, but there are nuggets in there that I enjoyed.

A really nice end. I actually like the shore ending- like the Great War wasn’t the point- defending their home was.

i don't always love tolkien's medieval-style prose, but the characters are so endearing and (hot take) the man is pretty good at worldbuilding. the pacing of this book is also WILD but i think i like that the story keeps going for a while after the big climactic moment. the war ends but life doesn't, so the story doesn't.
