this book made me enjoy reading again after a big slump. i was really sucked into this world and grew fond of the narrator and her story. definitely would read again and i already recommended it to two friends! a good mysterious story that makes you think about loss and grief.

Damn. This was a read. It captured me. I was hoping for and terrified by the possibility of it ending. 267 pages later I closed the book.  I'll be thinking about this one, and revisiting it, often.

classic dystopian novel. If you hate dystopian books like me then obviously don't read lol.
interesting plot, disturbing to read, with an extremely vague ending

this book was very somber and i grew to really like it. it's about powerlessness and inevitability, using the main character's personal and creative stories to display this. i found this book very moving and was not expecting to like it as much as i was. the author also uses imagery very effectively (i'm normally someone who skips over the nature descriptions, but i found these ones very succinct and effective). this is a read that will stay with me for a while.

This book was really slow to begin with. I think I spent a lot of time thinking the disappearances would be caused in a way I’d assumed and I battled with not liking what was happening.

Once I just gave up on my assumptions it became a much more mysterious and enjoyable read - enjoyable in the sense I struggled to put it down.

This is an intensely haunting and sad story.  It’ll stay with me for a while.

Read for a book club.
