What a fun ride! A little bit of shock horror with some pretty gross scenes, some romance, some trauma healing, so it has a little bit of everything! It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but is still well written, has compelling characters and has some interesting takes on werewolves. Would really recommend!

Body horror and romance! What a combo!

My hold for this book came up at a perfect time, right before Valentine's Day. I don't often like romance in my horror, but Rachel Harrison's books do make me feel warm and fuzzy, while dishing out the terror.

One thing I really loved about this book is the comparison between Rory transforming, and her twin's pregnancy, Scarlett's own transformation into a mother. The talk about what it means when your life changes drastically and your future isn't what you dreamed it would be, really hit home for me. Not just as a mom, but as a person with disabilities that came on later in life, and with kids with disabilities as well. You have to learn to let your expectations go, and I loved the way this book led the characters through their own journeys with letting go.

Overall, this was a fun, quick read. Plenty of body horror, but enough cozy romance for those days bundled up on the couch.

Grabbed this randomly at Barnes and it was an amazing surprise. I was worried it was going to read like a cheesy YA romance novel but it was extremely well balanced and more focused on the MC coping with the string of events going on than the actual fact that she had been turned into a werewolf.
I felt it was well paced with a fairly satisfying ending. A few things weren't wrapped up in the best way in my opinion, but I wasn't left wanting either.
Overall, my favorite book of the year so far.

You tease me with a threesome mention and don't make it gay?! How dare!!!
This could've been werewolf Jennifer's Body! (And I include that as a spoiler because just after I asked myself "Who bit her? Who turned her?" I flipped to the last page to see what the last line of the book is and... well... spoilers for that.)

There's clearly a lot of love for the werewolf genre but the story was just fine. I didn't make the connection to the larger themes until after the sort-of climax. And I mean way after. Like, I was reading the last paragraph of the book. And no, I don't mean the last page of the story, I mean the last paragraph of the Acknowledgements section.
Usually, writers (of books, tv, and movies) put in a plot line including sexual assault as a gimmick, like "Look at me, I can mention a super serious topic so you, the audience, have to take me serious now too." Harrison doesn't do that here, and the conversations between Rory, Mia, and Cyndi are treated with care and respect, but the connection between transforming and raging and healing from previous anger wasn't really there for me, until I read that last bit about how The Body Keeps the Score was an influence.

I have never really been a werewolf girlie, but I did watch Teen Wolf all the way through even when it got bad. Those are some of the most exciting and fun parts of the book, even when it gets a little spooky scary ew that's gross.

It's also kinda written like there was room given for a sequel? If that's the case, the book is good enough that I would read that too.
