fun, had such a good autumnal/halloweeny atmosphere so it's a pity i read it in january but oh well! i might have liked more stuff about the monsters and creatures in the world instead of offhand mentions of them but that's ok. i loved the inn itself and also max quite a bit!

In a quiet town, by a magical wood, lies Ravenfall Inn; a B & B that happens to lie at the crossroads of the Otherworld and the mortal world. Run by the magical Ballinkay family, and a black cat (that may not actually be a cat) that likes to play pranks, it's the kind of place where you're always welcome and the house will make you a cup of hot chocolate when you need it. It's the story of Anna Ballinkay and Colin Pierce and their families. Anna is struggling with her power to see death and Colin, with solving the mystery of his parent's death and his own growing abilities. t's about grief and loss, but also friendship and what makes a family. This book is whimsical and warm, and has all the fall vibes. I read the author described it as "putting on a cozy sweater and drinking a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day", which is totally accurate. Also Supernatural + Halloweentown.
