First Thought When Finished: Holy twisty turny ......

Story Thoughts: Oh my! I thought that Gretchen couldn't get any more manipulative and boy was I wrong. If you are a fan of the series then you are going to have flashes of the first book dancing through your head. Kill You Twice was absolutely on par with Heartsick. In fact, I think it was even better. This is the kind of serial killer twisty manipulation that gets the heart pumping and the mind working over time. In other words, the story was totally made of win.

Character Thoughts: Plain and simple: Gretchen was more Gretchen, Archie was more Archie, and Susan is finally starting to hold her own with these two. The characters were amazing in Kill You Twice! It was a perfect mix of trepidation, smartness, manipulation, and "OMG" character moments.

Audio Thoughts
Narrated By Christina Delaine / Length: 10 hrs and 58 mins

I think Christina does a great job with this series on audio. She only has done books 4 and 5 but she is a good fit emotionally with these characters. She brings them to life with great pacing and nuances. I will be sticking with this on audio if she continues to narrate.

Final Thoughts: Kill You Twice is the best in the series so far and I can't wait for the next one!

Kill You Twice might be favorite book in the series so far!

Gretchen was locked away in a mental institution, slowly dropping hints and mysteries that Archie ignored. Through Susan, she was able to grab his attention and lead him to a puzzle even he couldn’t help but want to solve. Gretchen always maintained that she never killed the children she was accused of killing, though she had no issue with admitting guilt to most of her other alleged crimes. It always bothered Archie. Now, someone was killing adults with some of the same patterns and it was time for Archie to take a look at what Gretchen was trying to tell him.

I love how everyone evolved a little bit on the way to this book. Henry and Claire were doing their thing and being public about it after the events in the last book. Susan was still doing freelance work and refusing to return to her old job, while also trying to figure out things with Leo. Archie was even moving on in his own way, which was not something he had been doing before.

I liked that we got to see a little bit of Gretchen’s past and how she was still willing to help Archie and not just lie to him. Also, she continued to NOT kill him when she had moments where she probably could have. I didn’t see any of the twists coming, so I enjoyed the crazy puzzle of the novel.

I’m starting to get that whole anxiety about how there’s only one book left and I’m so afraid it won’t be enough because I love this series. It took me a bit to really get into it, but Chelsea Cain really has a knack for writing messed up characters, regardless of what it is that makes them so messed up. I highly recommend the series and I can’t wait to devour the last book.

It was ok. I think I missed a book in the series. Wasn't sure who some of the characters were.
