"O for the dropping of raindrops in a song!
O for the sunshine and motion of waves in a song!" (p. 175)

Enchanting Walt, so much love. Walt truly contains some multitudes. Reverberations of I/ joy/ soul/ dance/ grass/ drums/ Death/ God/ more Death/ America/ skies/ sun things/ sea/ lovers.

"I find letters from God dropt in the street, and every one is sign’d by God’s name,
And I leave them where they are, for I know that wheresoe’er I go,
Others will punctually come for ever and ever." ( p.94).
The strength of his faith is remarkable & admirable, especially his apparent certainty in "the eternal real life to come" (p. 198).

Couldn't quite find peace with the striking amount of nationalism and American geography, though. Hegel appeared also trop randomly but decided to ignore that.

"Will you give me yourself?" (p. 158). Hard to feel a no, really.

Someone else summed it up. I like the idea of reading Whitman more than I like reading Whitman
