A collection of beasts extracted from Greek Mythology, Fanelli's mixed-media collage graces the pages of a picture /information book once again. Unlike previous texts that have always aimed for realism in their depictions, Fanelli celebrates their creative invention by building them up from a varied of materials; something, I suspect, will also inspire pupils to mimic.

Although the narrative is severely lacking, what Fanelli offers is a unique and creative engagement with the 'creation' of these creatures and, visually, there is plenty for the child readers to return and revisit. In addition, Fanelli's grinning humour abounds for the accompanying adult reader but I suspect other books may be more engaging on this topic.
