Absolutely brilliant! It has taken me quite some time to finish this book but that shouldn't reflect on its quality, only on the amount if work I've had to do recently. I loved the characters and the plot was gripping from the offset. I thoroughly enjoyed the First Law trilogy and liked seeing more of the world in this book. With it being a stand alone book tbe pacing was much quicker. Whilst I love a good trilogy, the fast pace, the overall journey of this book, and it being completed so satisfyingly, was particularly to my taste. As always, Abercrombie cleverly links and intertwines the stories and experiences of his characters using a beautiful combination of humour and brutality.

If you're a fan of Abercrombie and The First Law, then I definitely recommend this book.

Unlike the previous books in the series, I found myself not caring at all about any of the characters and whether they survive or die. And the amount of coincidences, that make the story run swiftly, is way too much.

Joe Abercombie is officially my favourite author. This is an absolutely fabulous audible book and the narrator was first class. There are so many twists, surprises and all the characters are excellent. I have asked my kids to buy me hardbacks of all Joe Abercombie books when they struggle what to get me as all of these books are first class. Please read - brilliant!!
