I am so happy to find a new series to read! Murder at the Brightwell is the first in a series of books starring Amory Ames; an affluent woman from London turned amateur sleuth. Ashley Weaver has written Mrs. Ames as a smart character; one where I found myself saying "do the right thing!" several times, and she did, each time! It is a joy to find a female protagonist who isn't foolish and prone to being a damsel in distress. I've already started book 2: Death Wears a Mask!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately sought out the next in the series. The writing is well executed and thought provoking. I love the characters and the challenges they face.

LOVED this book! This is a Agatha Christie-like book set in a hotel. I really enjoyed the characters, the setting and the mystery.

I really enjoyed this book and its characters. I thought the story line was plausible and I liked the relationship between Amory and Milo.

Well done to Ashley for creating a cast of characters - some you liked, some you pitied and some you thoroughly disliked.

I will be waiting with baited breath for the next book - which I think is due out in October in the UK.

This is an interesting story featuring a lost love, a marriage in trouble and dead bodies.

Has some moments that didn't really work, I didn't really see relationship strengths or weaknesses and couldn't see why various people loved or didn't love each other, I did like the mystery, it falls into cosy mystery genre quite neatly.

Found this incredibly boring with my only hope of it getting better being a possible twist with the husband. When that didn’t happen I just didn’t care.

Just didn't love the characters, they kinda of felt flat to me. Also too many characters for me to keep track of.
