A solid 4 stars. I felt that some of the internal monologue was repetitive and could have lived with less detailed wardrobe changes but it's a good read. Even when they're arguing, I like Milo and Amory and completely understand why they were drawn to each other and why they have issues. Also, the killer was a surprise, to the point I almost doubted how well the writer planted the seed. Fortunately, Weaver absolutely did and I found myself going "SO THAT'S WHY!" during the last few pages. A solid read and I will be picking up the next book soon

A promising start. Well done, as an audiobook, with good voice work for the different characters. But by the end, it was absolutely a hate-read. I was invested enough to want to know what was going to happen next, but I pretty much hated or rolled my eyes at all the characters. Including the ones who are carrying over into the rest of the series. So no more of this, thanks. I also got a good laugh from one of the characters, who the narrator made sound a lot like Captain Kirk with Odd Pauses Between Words.
