3.5 ⭐️. enjoyable but too much left unresolved.

I liked this Novella, but I wish more questions were answered. Personally, I just think it’s too short and they should be combined. I enjoyed it, but there was still much to be desired.

I’ve been told I would love this, and boy were you right Tif. Murderbot is a partially-organic security unit for a survey team on another planet. It has hacked its own software and has secretly gone rogue, but still does its job because it likes its humans. There is a thriller/mystery element, and Murderbot is so incredibly relatable. Some might not, but I personally absolutely loved the ending and I’m very curious to learn more about this futuristic sci-fi world. I will definitely be continuing the series (they are quick reads; the audiobooks are only about three hours each)

This novel is a great introduction to Murderbot! It is a very enjoyable narrator! It's motivations lean towards protection despite having a hacked Guardian drive that doesn't allow them to be compelled to do so, and it comes to care for the crew it's been assigned to. This series reminds me of Becky Chambers, though I believe Murderbot Diaries was published before the Wayfarers series. Queerness in outerspace with a nonhuman narrator, of whom humanity isn't expected is the way to my heart. I especially love the aro-ace coding of the narrator. I know robots as allegories for a-spec people is a tired stereotype, but I enjoyed reading it, nonetheless, having Murderbot's lack of external sexual organs line up with his interior experience of attraction was neat!

This book was funny, interesting, and surprising.  Murderbot is hilarious and awesome!  I really enjoyed its POV a lot.
This book was skillfully written - the way it flowed felt very much like what you’d expect from a book written from the POV of a robot.

It was just REALLY damn good - and at only 150-ish pages, why not give it a go!  Would recommend to anyone who enjoys sci-fi and is looking for something a little different and interesting!

My one things is the clearly sentimental human part of me wanted him to stay with Dr. Mensah and the team🥺  But I hope Murderbot finds where It is happiest!

I look forward to finishing this series!
