Although it's a classic, I can't say this is one of my favorites. I really could not fall in love with Cathy or Heathcliff-- but I did feel sympathy for them. Mostly I hated the storyline-- dis functional families suck, (lol) and both characters basically screwed up their lives, screwed up other peoples lives, or their life was screwed up by someone else-- this is a very morbid story, but I may give it another try some day and see if I feel any different. I recommend this book if you love drama and like reading about people with screwy lives :) ... (I say this somewhat sarcastically.)

Liked the writing style, the beautiful quotes & the use of Old English.

Not a single character to like. There is a story (an average one) but too dark. A Love that totally destroys everything - NO!!
A Love that gave up so easily - NO!!
A Love that destroys other people who are not at fault, simply for revenge (which is actually not a revenge, coz all the misery is self-afflicted) - NO!!

Too much of pride, arrogance, hatred, wickedness & all the possible negative adjectives!!

Wuthering Heights was recommended to me after I read rebecca, although I enjoyed Rebecca a lot more than Wuthering Heights. One of the reasons I wanted to read this book was to figure out who I would dislike more, Heathcliff or Catherine? The answer is both. They are really horrible people. I do not know why people categorize this as a romantic novel. Of course, some of the things Heathcliff does, could be perceived as romantic but in a very dark way. Overall very dark and atmospheric novel.

Read this in AP English.
Was a memorable but not enjoyable book.
This is the ultimate unhealthy relationship complete with messed up characters.
Even as teenagers we felt we knew enough to say that these people should not be together.
If you like Kate Bush's album of the same name, you understand it better if you read this.

There is no denying that Emily Bronte was a talented writer, but I did not enjoy this book. No, you don't have to like the characters in a book to enjoy the story, but I think you have to care about the story. I did not. I knew nothing about Wuthering Heights before reading it so I was not expecting a romantic story so I was not disappointed with that aspect. I liked the layering narration and I liked the prose. However, this book wasn't for me as I quite frankly couldn't care less what happened next.
