I went into this book excited because I thought that Ozma might be my favourite character, but then Billina the chicken appeared and blew her out of the water. I hope we get more chicken time, but characters really seem to appear and disappear kind of randomly. There are still 11 books to go though, so I'm sure she'll make another appearance.

This one was definitely a step up from the last one - I think I just enjoyed this plot a bit more. I find that Baum devotes a lot of time in his stories to travelling, which can kind of get tiring. So far I'm definitely seeing a formula for the books (and these are kids books, so that's not necessarily a bad thing), but I'm curious to see if he'll continue the same formula for the rest of the books

Adorei!

I actually think this is my favorite Oz story so far. Billina is one of the best Oz characters. I loved how the Nome King was defeated. I don't really understand why this book is called "Ozma of Oz", as Ozma is not featured as much as Dorothy. I feel that the previous book, "The Marvelous Land of Oz" should have been named "Ozma of Oz" instead.

The more I read these, the more they seem preachy in a way. Unfortunately I am clearly not in the choir for this one.
