Much like its predecessor Carter and Lovecraft, this book is clearly part of a series that the author or publisher is planning to sell as a tv series. While the first book had enough going for it to make it a fun read, this book comes across as a bunch of recycled plot lines with some lame Lovecraftian overtones. In the end it feels like one of the terrifying terrible Dr. Who episodes of the early 80s. Not total garbage, but hovering really close to it.

A slower burn than the first book but still quite excellent.

I liked this better than Carter and Lovecraft, in large part because it took place in the 'unfolded world', which was a concept I quite enjoyed. It felt like it was leaning more into the mythos and less prosaic in its setting. I'm not a huge fan of all the gun porn, though, and I still think that the Arkham of this book is not nearly is fun--despite the entirely blasé attitude towards weird deaths at Miskatonic University--as the Arkham that holds the portal into the Dreamlands in the Cabal universe. I'd probably read more of this series, but there aren't any, and to the extent that that's an indication of Howard realizing where his real strength lies, it's probably just as well.

I finished book 1 and was so glad that I could jump right into book 2. Nazis that aren’t quite the normal nazis, shifting realities and continued character development made me enjoy book two even more!

The plot was tonight and I was on the edge of my seat. I wondered if this was a two book series but afterwards I hunted - while there is no firm plan for book 3 it’s not out either. IP owners - let Jonathan L Howard wrote book 3 and more!

Really enjoyed the continuation of the Carter and Loveseat series. Not sure if I enjoyed it as much as book 1 but still with the read.

I really liked this book. It was just as good as the first in the series. There are a few loose ends that weren't tied up and I'm excited about a third one!
