What the hell did I read?
Half of the book is a praise to Anderson and his looking. Ella/Juliette was a soldier and he was "her master". I cringed as I read that.
In the end happened so much so fast.. I couldn't really keep up. I thought I go nuts reading this.
Kenji's back must hurt badly after carrying this whole book!

i love the shatter me series but this book, in comparison to the others in the series lacked a little bit. Dont get me wrong, it was a good book, i LOVED it but i feel like an extra 50 pages could have been thrown in to not only get the book up to that 500 page mark, but also to dive deeper into the ending. It ended a bit abruptly.
The entire series had been about taking down the reestablishment, which Emmaline needed to die for- and she did and the ending was so bittersweet but it definitely could have been taken further. I wish that we could have had a couple chapters afterwards to see the change beginning to take place. The reestablishment was finally over, for good, and that was the entire goal throughout the last 6 books but we weren't given a chance to see life beginning to change afterwards which isnt a huge deal, i just personally think it would have made it a little more of a “worth-while” read.
In my review for the last book, i pointed out that the author had been putting more detail on the gore which i think is a PERFECT addition to the story. many points throughout the book were violent but never had that twinge of gore… until the last 2 books which i think perfectly fit the change in the characters and the entire plot. As the books progressed and things became more tense, the gore really amplified the emotions us readers were meant to be feeling along with the characters.
I am SO happy for Aaron and Ella in regards to the wedding, i only wish that we could have gotten a chance to see Kenji and Nazeema’s relationship begin. It was implied but there was no text ever directly stating it began or anything like that, i just think it would have been nice to actually have that written down and undeniably there if that makes any sense.
Once again… POOR EMMALINE!!! The entire story was incredibly somber. between Aaron and Kenji stuggling with Ellas absence, to Ella and Emmalines connection, and literally everything else going on in the book, the melancholy tone is undeniably hidden behind the “lets finish this once and for all!” determination everyone had.
Overall the series all together was probably a 4/5 ⭐️ for me i really enjoyed it. im honestly a little sad its over.
