I like the depth of using a therapist to help her work through her issues.Â

Addicted is classified as erotica - not my typical genre that’s for sure! The set-up is that Zoe is a successful Black businesswoman, allegedly happily married to her childhood sweetheart. Except she is sexually unfulfilled and suffering from a sex addiction (I never brought the addiction and would argue she was sexually frustrated) so pursues three overlapping affairs. This book never once made me feel the way I expected erotica would, but perhaps that’s just a matter of personal taste and I should simply file this book as not for me. However, I had one big concern, which was that each of Zoe’s extra-marital partners attempted to kill her. The implicit message disturbed me. It felt like s**t shaming, an alarmist cautionary tale, a warning to women as to what would happen if they dared to seek sexual fulfilment.Â
