Meg and Mog have brought a lot of happiness to my family and me over the years. There is something so loveable about Meg’s constant spell-casting hiccups and Mog’s slightly erratic patience. This one, the first in the series, sees Meg preparing for a Halloween party. When she has gathered all her resources, she and Mog ascend through her gently curving chimney and sweep through the skies until they meet Meg's fellow witches. When Meg's catastrophic spell-casting ends up turning all her friends into mice; much to Mog the cat’s delight, she must make a choice about when to change them back...

In all honesty, I enjoyed the narrative more as I shared it with my own children. As a child, it was undoubtedly Pienkowski’s incredible artwork that hooked me in. With a limited colour palette that was as bright as it was bold, Pienkowski’s illustrations were super simplified yet almost felt iconic in form. I remember these stories as both oddly alluring and mischievously fun.

This book has a very simple story and very simple illustrations and yet it has been one of my sons favorite Halloween books over the years.

I listened to this on audiobook as I get anxiety at night and children’s books can help me feel more relaxed. I’m definitely not the target audience of this book :)

I just love these books. After finding [b:Mog in the Fog|1638418|Mog in the Fog|Helen Nicoll|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1186194195s/1638418.jpg|1632722] the other day, I got my old Meg & Mog books off the shelf at my parents house (while making a quick overnight visit) to re-read them. They're all so familiar. Just fantastic; simple and clever. I love [a:Jan Pieńkowski|5449170|Jan Pieńkowski|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1341348890p2/5449170.jpg]'s illustrations.

(Read with little sister as part of the "1,001 Children's Books To Read")

The illustrations were so cute and any story with a cat and owl is great!

This is a cute classic children’s books about a witch and her cat. One evening they go out on an adventure with a group of other witches and together they all cast a spell, but the spell doesn’t go the way they wanted.

I loved this and a couple of the other Meg and Mog books when I was a kid. When I heard that Jan Pieńkowski had passed away recently, I was instantly reminded of these so bought the series. I’m looking forward to catching up with the rest of Meg’s adventures!

This is a cute Halloween book with simple but fun illustrations, print that fits in around the pictures, and sounds and words that will appeal to young children.

This is the story about a witch named Meg and her cat named Mog. Good little story for young children. Very bright colors. I liked the way the illustrator/author used unconventional placement of words to make the illustrations more interesting.

A wonderful read from my childhood, one I’d certainly suggest for other youngsters. Whilst it is not my all-time favourite childhood read I can still recall all the details of this one meaning it certainly left a lasting impression upon my young mind.

And isn’t that what we want with children’s books, for them to leave a positive lasting impression?
