Fun world building and you got to actually explore the world with that characters rather than being stuck in a castle.  A lot of twists I didn't see coming, which kept it interesting.  My biggest issue was the main character doesn't think she's powerful enough.  Even though she constantly proves herself as a dangerous competitor.  I think this is more because of the YA tag though. Started off a little bit lost as far as islands/new lands and if the -ings were considered different than humans.
Literary book crime not including a map, I think a map would have helped a LOT. Got better and more clear as the book went on. I found the main character relatable (sometimes frustrating, but in a way that made her understandable and real). Still processing some of it might need to do a re-read before the next one comes out. 
Did not care for the female friendships/relationships/representation in the book. 
I also feel like the only way the twist(s) were able to happen was because we were kept in the dark confused and only given the little bits and pieces of information a little at a time. 
I also felt the 100-500 years things was weird and unnecessary when so many characters were immortal. Like time just didn’t mean anything.

also both male love interests have some SERIOUS control issues like girl run and run fast. She cannot trust anyone or anything. Also I consider memory wiping one person in a couple a literary crime.

Entertainment-wise the book is good but the descriptions and names of places/objects as well as other things are almost painful. It is almost twilight-esque with the relationship between some characters and the main character gives-off Bella Swan vibes. It took a minute for me to get absorbed into it but it got better a little further  towards the end. Overall it was entertaining and I will be purchasing the next book.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t see a fair amount of the plot twists coming. Other than that, there is nothing good about this book. World didn’t feel fleshed out, writing was terrible with its sentence fragments not used very artfully, and the exposition was just dropped in, sometimes very loosely related to what’s going on at the moment and long-winded.
