okay, so starting out I was not a fan of how I felt the story was going. I like Effie but Mr Benedict? Nope. Not one bit. Mr Jubilee? Adore him. Love him. My favorite character in this book and the reason for the 5 stars

Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out Half a Soul was actually the first of a series!!! Like the first book, I picked up this one and did not put it down until I finished it. The author does such a great job of creating a cozy and whimsical sort of atmosphere, whilst also touching on some less-light subjects, such a unfair labor practices. I also really appreciated that my favorite faerie from the first book turned out to be one of the main characters in this! The story itself could have been fleshed out a little bit more, especially the ending, but I still enjoyed my time reading it. I love these stories, and I’m very excited to read the next one.

DNFed at p36 (13%) - I really loved the first one, but I don't think this needed to be a series or if it did I would've preferred a direct continuation of the first book/couple. I'm not going to unhaul these, maybe one day I'll give it another shot but for now I'm done with this series.

i’m so glad i picked this book up again. it had the same amount of whimsy and cozy vibes as the first, and the romance was delightful. one thing i hate about romance series is when the mc’s are too similar or feel like carbon copies of each other; for this one effie was so different to dora but just as loveable. definitely gonna pick up the next one.
