Novellaween: Day 2
This one is HARD. I enjoyed the writing style here and found that the content being discussed was covered well. The insidiousness of the work environment and watching some of the characters spiral.

Normally I am not someone who needs a plot to enjoy a book, but this one meandered so much that I think it could've really benefitted from a more cohesive driving force.

Overall an okay time, but not one I'll be shouting from the rooftops telling people to read.

Novellaween: Day 2
Not as much horror as I expected but what was there was definitely horrific, and really made me think of the darker side of *nameless online platform* that I don't see (I'll be honest my feed is 90% memes and reels at this point lol).

Still I did find the commentary quite interesting, and
holy crap the reveal of the video was fucked uppp and made me wonder how unreliable the narrator really is!! I will say I was disappointed with that ending but overall a really interesting read on the guidelines for taking videos down, the toll this repeated exposure had on the characters and  how almost insidious it felt seeing them change their minds with the conspiracy theories.

this book was woefully underwhelming. through high praises and the author’s interviews, i can assume the intent of this book was to prompt larger conversation on the prolonged effects of exposure to “harmful and disturbing” content online, and evoke “shock” per the author… however this book was lackluster and fell short of all expectations. if anything, the book contributes more to the shallow conversations about “social media addiction” that further demonize the internet.
