Awesome book! My aunt bought me this for Christmas and I just started running this week. It's pretty fun.

I hate running, and I think I still do, but this book is perfect for people like me. There is a daily plan that tells you exactly what to do on each workout day for 13 weeks. I looked at many other books, but couldn't find any like this; I never did any running exercises in jr high or high school, so I couldn't rely on past knowledge. There are also 13-week plans for walking and hard-core running.

After the first session, I felt like this was totally do-able. It starts of slow, building up muscle and bone strength, then increases so you will be able to run for 60 minutes without stopping.

It also includes detailed stretching, cross-training and strength-training exercises (with illustrations!).

This book is realistic in helping you achieve goals, recognizing that people don't become runners overnight, and that being fit is a lifestyle, not an activity (that's why there's a chapter on nutrition as well).

So good!

Useful, but running honestly still sounds intimidating and kind of miserable ...

I haven't completed the program outlined in the book but found the information on injury prevention, technique and other beginner info really helpful.

I liked this book because I’m a beginning runner and it gave me a ton of advice on how actually do this properly. I borrowed my copy from the library and I have it for 3 more weeks. Personally, I’m going to use the plan and see how it goes. If I like it, I definitely will purchase this book because I believe it would be good to have.
