I got teary-eyed because I love these characters and seeing the way they felt affected me a lot. However, the ending made absolutely no sense to me. It wasn't tragic in a classical way, but it also wasn't happy at all. It felt weird.
I also hated how the ending made it feel like Séverin was the only one who cared about Laila and loved her. Everyone did, and I think to impact the readers the way it seemed like the book was trying to, everyone should have gotten the chance that Séverin did. But then again, it would have still been weird.
Overall, though, the reading was enjoyable and I'm going to miss the story and the characters a lot.

I fell in love with the world and these characters back in 2020. I don’t know why it took me so long to finally get to the third book… maybe I didn’t want to let this series go, so I ended up rereading the first two books this year prior to finally getting to book 3. This was a highly anticipated book for me when it was first announced! And Ohhh did it deliver!!! My emotions and mind were pulled every way following the core friends on this journey. I think that’s important to note, the way Roshani writes this is a journey where the characters bond together and solve problems as they figure out the broader mystery of this world. It’s a slow paced fantasy novel that isn’t about the action until it is. The way Roshani has constructed this world on every page is beautiful, and her writing will go down as one of my favourites of all time.
It is sad I am saying goodbye to this world finally, Laila, Séverin, Hypnos, Enrique, and especially Zofia hold a special place in my heart. Though this was the perfect ending to this trilogy 😭♥️

I had no clue where any of this story was going, but I was gagged multiple times. I loved the characters and just their interactions. The relationships are so good and heartwarming. The ending of this is not at all what I expected. I enjoyed the plot of the second one, but the character interactions more in this one. The first one is still the best. I just love the different histories and myths we learn about.

god damn I don't think the end of a series has torn my heart up like that in a good while. It was epic, exciting, surprising, and exactly what it should have been.
I love this entire adventure, my heart is forever with this beautiful and funny as hell found family, and I don't know how to cope with it being over. THE EPILOGUE WILL HAUNT MY DREAMS FOR ALWAYS.
