Like the first, this is an excellent volume of comics. This very well could have been a 4.75 or 5 for me, but “Being Human” just… something about it was off to me. Didn’t love the story, didn’t love the art. Really loved the few issues with Roger, he and Hellboy are a very fun and intriguing pairing. Looove all the lore drops in this volume, and some really good one shot stories. “The Third Wish” and “Into the Silent Sea” were standouts for me. Gary Gianni’s art in the latter fits the tone and world of Hellboy so perfectly.

Great art and action continue here, and I did like that Hellboy’s character came out more.
I still got a bit of the “monster of the week” feeling, though, which made me feel less engaged in the overall plot.

Best parts of this volume were when it was primarily going off of the artwork and vibes.

how can i even talk about this book without spoilers?
i love all the little emotional stuff. i especially liked The Island. That was one of the most interesting and awe-inspiring stories that I’ve come across in recent memory.I LOVED Hellboy’s departure from the BPRD. I especially loved how he was able to work through his whole mission with Roger before resigning, and staying chill with Roger in the meantime. The characters in Hellboy really make these stories stand out, and I really want to read more of the spinoff stuff after what I’ve seen here!
