Santa's sick on Christmas Eve so he calls Pete the Cat to deliver all the toys. Pete's a little worried that he won't be able to do everything in time but he decides to do his best.

I didn't like this one as much as the other Pete the Cat title that I've read. Maybe it's because I read it when it's not Christmas, but I think it had more to do with the song remaining the same and not being as catchy. I think that kids will still enjoy this if they're fans of the character and it is still cute, it's just not as good as the other title.

I'm generally skeptical of Christmas books based on popular characters. It always feels like, after the author has had some success with a character, the publisher says: "why don't you write a Christmas story now!" They're always good sellers.

I adore Pete so I hoped this one wasn't too formulaic. I think it works fine, and the message of giving is right on. I don't love the song, though - it feels unfinished. The illustrations, as always, are delightful, with Pete driving around in a vw minibus pulled by reindeer.

Overall a decent addition to the Christmas book oeuvre.
